On March 13, 2025, the Frisco VFW Post 8273 and Commander Sheena Lawless hosted a remarkable dinner to honor all Vietnam Veterans — and what a night it was! Among the 130 attendees, many were proud Vietnam Veterans.
The evening’s guest speaker, Capt. Dave Carey, USN (Ret.), a former Vietnam POW, delivered a powerful message drawn from his own POW experience. He spoke about the power of choice — that no matter what we endure, we each decide how to live our lives, with faith in ourselves, resilience, and a determination to do what we have to do no matter what.
The gratitude in the room was palpable. These Vietnam men and women deserve every bit of recognition, especially after the welcome (or lack thereof) they received coming home.
Contributing to the special evening were Tammy Meinershagen’s rendition of the National Anthem on violin, the VFW Color Guard and hearing remarks by Benny Guerrero from the Department of Texas VFW.
We love all Vietnam Veterans, and we’re beyond grateful for the platform to give them the recognition they deserve.
